What women think about their relationship with money

*Results from Live Texting

Women in ETFs Chicago celebrates International Women’s Day. Join us for the CBOE closing bell ceremony and our 2nd Annual Women’s Leadership Forum with keynote speaker Carolyn Leonard.

Carolyn Leonard, the first woman to trade at the CBOE in the 3M pit, and later the OEX pit, leveraged her gender to make more money than most of the men around her. Many male market makers and brokers had refused to work with Carolyn. In April of 1977, those same men faced a choice: End their boycott, or squander and opportunity to trade with Carolyn, who was one of three people trading 3M options when the market in 3M exploded. The 3M pit was choked with traders, brokers and exchange officials trying to rein in the chaos. By the closing bell, the trading cards bulging from the pockets of Leonard’s signature trading jacket revealed their decision, the value of her trading account quintupled in a single day and Carolyn Jean “The Option Queen” was there to stay.
